An Important Person in Computer History:

Charles Babbage: The Inventor of the Computer

In this paragraph I want you to talk about who this person was and what was his/her major computer accomplishment.   Charles Babbage is often considered the inventor of the computer.  In the late 1800s, Babbage developed plans for a device called the Analytical Engine.

In this paragraph I want you to discuss how this was important to the evolution of computers.  Although this machine was never completed and therefore never worked, it laid the foundation for modern day computers. It had a set of input devices to feed numbers and instructions into it, an arithmetic unit to perform calculations, a control unit, memory where information could be stored, and an output device. This machine was the beginning of programmable computers.

In this paragraph, explain how the world might have been different without this person's contribution.  Without the invention of Charles Babbage, it is possible that we may never have had small personal computers.  We would not have email, internet, word processing, games, and lots of other programs that we use everyday.  Everything would be much more complicated and take longer amounts of time.
